Alex racks the first vintage of St. Rey Tannat, working his way through all of the '09 reds, a Chard and some Rousanne-Grenache Blanc last month at Revolution Wines. Racking and returning can be a tedious job and so many small, special lots impacts the workload. But everything is looking good! All of the wines are clean, balanced and varietal at this point, so we are happy with our efforts for crush '09.
So, stop by the winery and if you are lucky you can barrel taste some of the wines.
To your health!

Tasting, trials, more tasting and bottling
Whoever said that the winter time is a quiet time in the cellar has not been to Revolution Wines' cellar. Craig, Jason and Alex have been working every day to not only put to bed the '09 reds but to also taste through them and with a sense of urgency have also been tasting through and adjusting all of the non-ML wines, getting them ready for our next bottling event on February 23rd.
Here's what they have to say:
2009 Pinot Grigio:
"Mmmm, peaches and green apple....The Pinot Grigio is awesome!" - Jason Smith
"Very nice nose - tropical fruit - I could just smell this wine all day." - Craig Haarmeyer
"Can I have a glass?" - Alex Haarmeyer
2009 Chenin Blanc:
"Melon. You get that ripe melon aroma...this is good." - Jason Smith
"Clean and crisp, just like an apple!" - Craig Haarmeyer
Sounds good! Can't wait to get that stuff out there for all to taste and after the 23rd we will be ready to start pouring it but if you can't wait until then we did do a short run of the Pinot Grigio for our restaurant accounts so they do not run out. So, you can visit one of our many friends at the following locations to get a glass or two right now.
- Chicago Fire Pizza
- Sacramento Theater Company
- Ambrosia Cafe
